Engagements

Katie and Mattingly’s central park engagement session was one of those days that proves the weather truly does not matter when the energy is right.

Their engagement session took place in mid May, during a classic spring afternoon in New York City. It was a rainy, overcast afternoon, but they embraced every moment with ease. From the very beginning, Katie had the biggest smile on her face. She laughed easily, leaned into the weather, and stayed completely present. Even with rain falling around us, her joy never faded, and it set the tone for the entire session.

We started by roaming through Central Park together. The park felt calm and quiet, with fresh greenery and only a few people passing by despite the rain. The soft light and damp pathways slowed everything down in the best way. We walked, paused under umbrellas, and allowed the session to unfold naturally as we explored different areas of the park.

Mattingly kept things light the entire time. He joked with Katie, made her laugh, and clearly enjoyed every moment together. Their dynamic felt relaxed and genuine, which made photographing them feel effortless. Nothing felt stiff or over directed. Instead, it felt like following along as they simply enjoyed being together.

Before leaving the park, we stopped to pop champagne overlooking The San Remo. It was such a fun pause in the middle of their central park engagement session. The rain softened the skyline, the greenery framed the view, and the moment felt celebratory and easy. Katie laughed through the entire moment, and Mattingly leaned right into it.

After that, we grabbed an Uber and headed toward the city for the second half of their session. That transition kept the energy moving while still feeling seamless.

We finished at the New York Public Library. The stone steps and architecture offered a clean, classic contrast to Central Park’s greenery. Even then, the rain stayed with us, and Katie continued smiling without hesitation.

Their central park engagement session was relaxed, joyful, and full of genuine moments. Rain or shine, Katie and Mattingly embraced the day fully, making it feel personal, connected, and completely their own.
