There’s just something about Newport, Rhode Island that makes my heart skip a beat every single time I’m there. As a wedding photographer, I’ve been lucky enough to visit some beautiful places, but Newport, RI? It’s the kind of dreamy, coastal fairytale that’s straight out of a romance novel. And getting to help couples tell their love story through timeless, joy-filled images is right in the middle of it all.

From the coastal charm to the history that lingers in the air, Newport RI is a wedding photographer’s paradise. Whether it’s golden hour portraits on the Cliff Walk or surrounding beaches, the breeze off the water at OceanCliff overlooking the Claiborne Pell/Newport Bridge, or a joyful celebration under the stars at Belle Mer, this little seaside city is packed with perfect backdrops for unforgettable images.

First, Rosecliff Mansion is the definition of glamour and grandeur. With its sweeping ballroom, marble staircase, and stunning gardens, it feels like it was made for romantic wedding portraits. Every room feels like a page from a fairytale. It’s effortlessly elegant, with just the right touch of Gilded Age magic.

As for The Elms, while I haven’t had the chance to photograph a wedding there just yet, it’s been on my dream list for ages. The French-inspired architecture, the lush gardens, and the regal ambiance make it the perfect setting for a romantic and timeless celebration. I can already picture the soft, golden light and the sweet, quiet moments waiting to be captured there. I truly can’t wait for the day I get to bring a love story to life at The Elms.

OceanCliff is always a favorite. Set right along the water, it offers those iconic Newport ocean views with sailboats dotting the background and salty breezes in the air. It’s such a beautiful blend of relaxed coastal vibes and timeless elegance. 

Belle Mer is bright and modern with that clean, airy feel that makes everything glow, especially in natural light. It’s perfect for couples who love a polished yet breezy aesthetic. 

And of course, there’s Ocean House, perched above the sea like something out of a wedding magazine, offering panoramic views and a sense of laid-back luxury.

For couples dreaming of an engagement session with old-world elegance and a sweeping view of the sea, Ochre Court at Salve Regina University is absolutely breathtaking. It’s a castle-like gem with dramatic architecture and oceanfront views that make every photo feel magical.
